Cine Film transferred to DVD

Note: We use a professional lab to transfer cine film. We mention this because it may involve sending your film by Courier or Royal Mail Recorded Delivery, and we cannot be held responsible for film that gets lost or damaged in transit. (this has never happened to-date but we feel you should be aware).

Superior DIGITAL transfer

The advantage of using a professional lab over an analog service is that the process is entirely digital. This means that every single frame of your film is scanned individually. This results in a superior image, of course but it also removes the irritating flicker* so characteristic of analog systems. Furthermore, your film is treated with a preserver/cleaner before transfer which adds protection and sparkle.

* Flicker is caused by the projector's shutter blades. Scanning the film digitally, frame-by-frame, eliminates the use of a projector and, therefore, the flicker.

Unlike some companies, who 'hobble' their DVDs with copy-protection, our DVDs have no copy-protection, which means you are free to 'rip' the footage onto your computer (PC or Mac) for editing.

Large Orders

If you have a lot of film to transfer at one time, request a quotation. The more film you have the cheaper it becomes. If you are happy with our quote you can pay by phone via credit or debit card. Or if you prefer, you can enclose a cheque when sending your films.

How much will it cost?

Our simple pricing (25p per foot for 8mm film, and 28p per foot for 16mm) means it is easy to work out how much your transfer will cost. For example: a 3 inch reel (50ft) of 8mm 'silent' film will cost just £12.50. This includes DVD media, menus, chapter markers and unobtrusive, copyright-free background music. It also includes full size DVD cases with printed inserts.
