WHY DIGITISE YOUR PHOTOS & VIDEOS? The digital age has brought us lots of benefits like better communication, easy access to information, and increased productivity. One thing I'm really thankful for is the ability to turn my old printed photos and films into digital ones. I've been into photography and videography for a long time, and while I appreciate the nostalgia of the past, I don't miss it at all. When I finally switched to digital, I already had a huge collection of old-fashioned printed photos and slides, not to mention videos. Over the years, I've gathered even more from my family. It's nice to have these 'family treasures,' but it's also a big responsibility. Who hasn't had the thought "what would happen if there was a fire or flood?"—our precious photos and videos could be lost forever. Even without such disasters, time itself takes a toll on these old photos and videos, causing them to degrade slowly.

Digitising your images puts an end to these worries once and for all. There are other benefits too. For instance...

• You can back up your photos to Cloud storage or share them with family and friends.

• You can create personalized photo books, mugs, and more.

• You can make PDF albums for easy viewing and sharing.

• It simplifies organizing and storing your photo collections.

WHAT CAN YOU DIGITISE? We can turn mostly anything into digital format—paper photos, negatives, slides, and even other paper items like certificates or letters. We can also digitise old videos and movie films.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST? In the past, our pricing began at £1.20 per image, a figure that even today might be deemed 'reasonable'. However, for those with extensive photo collections, the costs could quickly add up, potentially reaching hundreds or even thousands of pounds. Fortunately, with advancements in technology and the integration of AI, we can now offer digitisation services starting from as little as 20p per image. Take a look at our prices—you may discover that it's more budget-friendly than you anticipated. Additionally, as more individuals recognize the advantages of digitising, you may find that friends and family are willing to contribute to the cost—especially if they stand to benefit from having their own copies!

WHAT DOES 'ANALOGUE' MEAN? Analogue photography and video involve capturing images on film, magnetic tape or paper using chemical processes. These  methods have been around for a long time but in recent years have been overtaken by digital technology.

SHOULD YOU CHOOSE 300 OR 600 DPI? DPI stands for 'Dots Per Inch' It measures the resolution of digital images. Both 300 and 600 dpi are suitable for digitising photos, but most people go with 300 dpi because it's good enough for viewing on various devices and printing at the same size as the original. Scanning at 600 dpi allows for larger prints, but it costs more and takes up more space on your devices. TIP: to see the difference between 300 and 600dpi take advantage of our £9.99 Trial Offer (details on our pricing page)

HOW SHOULD YOU PREPARE YOUR PHOTOS? Please take your photos out of frames and mounts before sending them to us. If we have to do it, there'll be an extra charge. Photos stuck in albums or mounted on stiff backing will need to be scanned individually. see flat-bed price list.

CAN YOU KEEP MY PHOTOS IN ORDER? We understand how important the order of your photos can be, and we'll do our best to keep them in the same order as they arrive. If you've grouped your photos in specific ways, like by family member or era, please let us know.

WHAT IF THERE'S WRITING ON THE BACK OF MY PHOTOS? We'll scan that too, at no extra cost. It can be helpful when dating or titling your photos.

CAN YOU REPAIR DAMAGED PHOTOS? Yes, we offer basic restoration for free as part of our scanning service. If you have photos that need more work, just let us know, and we can give you a quote.

DO I HAVE TO COUNT MY PHOTOS? Nope! Our equipment counts and numbers them automatically, so you don't need to worry about it. If you want an estimate of the cost, you can count a small part of your collection and use that as a guide.

CAN I GET EXTRA COPIES? Sure thing! You can order additional DVDs or USB sticks at a lower cost if you get them at the same time as your main order. Remember: once your photos are on your computer, you can make as many copies as you like for free.

HOW DO YOU GET MY PHOTOS TO YOU? We recommend delivering them in person or sending them via tracked delivery for peace of mind. There are services that will collect from you and deliver to us. (price comparisons available at parcelcompare.com and interparcel.com).
